What is Shintō Musō-ryū Jo?

It is a Japanese martial tradition that teaches practitioners to use the short staff (jo) against a sword. It emphasizes control, timing, and precision. Find out more. 

What We Practice

Rooted in tradition, but relevant for modern discipline and focus. 

Our curriculum includes kihon (fundamentals), solo techniques (waza), and paired kata.  There is no sparring, making it suitable for all ages, including both men and women. No experience is necessary.

We have dōjō in Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, the Midwest, Virginia, and Maryland. Please contact us for information on a particular dōjō. If there is no training group near you, we will introduce you to qualified teachers near you.
